The sheet is engraved on two sides:-
Page 49 (continued from Page 48) shows the Road from Ailesford via Maidston, Barsted, Haresham, Lenham Haugh, Ashford and Willesborough to Hith (Hythe). Embellished with the Coat of Arms of Hith as well as copious notes on places of interest along the way.
Page 50 shows a Map of Mona, now called Anglesey Island. With a description of the Island identifying the Hundreds, the number of acres, houses, parishes and market towns. Owen notes that "... the Weltch call it Mam Cymry ...the Mother of Wales".
The strip map shows the main road and crossroads leading to various towns along the way. The engraving details the surrounding topography including churches, rivers, bridges, pastures, woods, forests and hills. On each strip is a compass rose showing the direction of travel as well as the distance, in miles, from the start point.
The engravings have distinct plate marks and good margins. The engraving has been washed & pressed by a qualified conservator (see Conservation Services link on the Home Page).
