A spectacular map by Baptiste Homann showing the Southeast and Mississippi region. Based on Delisle's 1718 map, Homann's rendition covers a larger area and placed New Orleans on the wrong side of the Mississippi River and is based upon the reports of Hennepin, who explored the upper Mississippi and Great Lakes regions as a Recollet Missionary in the late 1600s. The map is famous for the decorative cartouche and buffalo.
