Gerard Mercator's map of Iceland with Latin text printed on the back. Mercator most likely based this map on an earlier Ortelius work. The map is decorative with a sea monster, compass motif and a superb cartouche at the right edge.


The map is in excellent condition with wide margins and no discernible faults except for some slight browning at the mid margin. The shadow at the centrefold is caused by flash photography.
