Two fine engravings of the German towns of Saarburg and Pfalzel
1. The history of the city begins with the construction of the now-ruined castle by Graf Siegfried of Luxembourg in 964. It received its town charter in 1291.
2. Pfalzel, on the left bank of the river Moselle, just north of Trier, traces its origins to the Roman Emporors.
