Description

Title: "Tab. VI. Asiae, Arabiam Felicem, Carmaniam ac Sinum..."

Finely engraved, this classical map of the Arabia peninsula after Ptolemy from the renowned Gerhard Mercator.

The map shows the Gulf of Persia in an almost rectangular form, a distinctive feature of Ptolemy’s geography, and has present-day Saudi defined in its three traditional sub-divisions "Arabia Foelix", occupying the greater part, "... Deserte" and "... Petrea" in the north. A large decorative cartouche.

Very good condition with only one small defect at the middle fold, circa 2,5 cm with some loss.
