A beautifully coloured topographical map of the environs of Vienna with the river Danube graphically illustrated skirting the Vienna Woods and flowing south-south-east past the capital of the Austrian Empire.
After the floods of 1830 action was taken to regulate the course of the river with the building of locks on the Wiener Donaukanal. In 1857 the defensive walls surrounding the old town were taken down and replaced by the Ringstrasse.

The map has been dissected into 8 sections and laid on linen. A finely executed strap work border surrounds the map. Scarce.
