A volume of Prévost's Histoire générale des voyages , 1753, concerning the southern seas.

The map included is Bellin's 'Carte Reduit de Terre Australes', a rare pre-Cook view of the southern continent. There are also several prints of flora from the south sea islands. Chapters on the voyages of Dampier, Tasman, Schouten.

Complete, 381pp. Uniform age toning, clean, fresh, very rare foxing. Full leather binding, strong, some wear, superficial lacks, a hole at top left to spine. Overall very good condition. Paper is not white as appearing on my pictures, but slightly toned.
