An extremely rare and early map of the Southern Hemisphere, including today's Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, Argentina and Antarctica. A big southern landmass (Terra Australis) is assumed. The upper part of the map shows the Strait of Magellan, between South America and today's Tierra del Fuego.

The condition is very good with one tiny area of repair to the top left blank margin well beyond the engraved area. There is some showthrough of the colours on the verso. This is a truly scarce map that is seldom seen on the market.
