Title: 'Tipus Orbis Terrarum'. This uncommon world map is from a Spanish translation of Botero’s geographical and political commentary, Relaciones Universales del Mondo, published in Valladolid in 1603 (Palau 33704). Very few maps were published in Spain during the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. This world map by De Solis is taken from the Ortelius 1570 world map and includes the peculiar bulge in the outline of South America. De Solis adds four small maps of the continents in circular medallions in the corners. Defects: Some light foxing. Overall very good.
