A rare French map of Africa by Jean Baptiste Nolin (senior) after Coronelli.

The map is in very good condition on bright quality paper and with original colours. There are a few faults: a 10 cm repair to the top centerfold on the verso and some slight browning and softening of the paper at the edges with a few small chips. There are also two repaired worm tracks (2 cms) in the lower margins well away from the engraved area. These are visible in the photograph. Three tiny holes also exist in the Sahara region (less than 1 mm). Overall these faults do not detract from the impact of this very beautiful and seldom seen map.
