An early map of the southern end of the South American continent. "Fretum Magellanicum" bisects the mainland. Numerous ships are shown in the waters off the west coast. This is one of the most embellished examples of this regional map ever produced. Includes 3 cartouches, 3 compass roses, 7 sailing ships and rhumb lines.

The condition is good although there is some minor staining in the image area and repairs to this area on the verso.
