Description

Title: Aldgate Ward with its divisions into Precincts and Parishes, according to a new survey.

Publication: A New History of London including Westminster and Southwark … Author: Noorthouck. John, Printed for: R Baldwin

According to Hyde (Ward maps of the City of London) Noorthouk's engravings are the fourth edition (here, 2nd state) of Ward plans. The first Ward maps were engraved by Richard Blome in 1720. These were followed by those of Richard Seale in 1740. Subsequently a series of plans was engraved by Benjamin Cole in 1756.
Noorthouck's History of London is quite scarce and so too are these Ward maps.
The engraving has been professionally cleaned and pressed
